In the S6, the new engine is 25 percent more efficient than the outgoing V-10, Audi says, thanks to features like cylinder deactivation, which switches between four- and eight-cylinder operation.

Aston Martin is recalling 1,090 2007-08 Aston Martin DB9, DBS and V8 Vantage over a potentially dangerous steering defect, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Some front bottom suspension arm cam bolts received an incorrect amount of heat treatment during production. The hardness of the bolt on the affected models is above specification and could crack along its shank, allowing the lower control arm to move. The lower control arm influences steering feel and control. If the cam bolt cracks, it could increase of the risk of a crash.

On the affected vehicles, dealers will replace the front suspension lower control arm cam bolts free of charge. The recall is expected to begin before Oct. 18. For additional information, owners can call Aston Martin at 888-923-9988 or NHTSA's hot line at 888-327-4236.

What has sparked this are persistent rumours of a Station wagon version of the XF will be shown at the Frankfurt motorshow in September 2009. Jaguar has always denied this car exists, with demand for the car expected to be mainly limited to Europe, where estate cars are still more popular than the big SUV's, in fact SUV sales have fallen away dramatically in Europe over the last 12 months. however, as sales of SUVs are also slipping in the US, Jaguar may feel the time is right for the XF to strike, competing with the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Merc E-Class who all have estate versions in their line up.

Subaru BRZ that you will be able to buy will (finally) make its official debut later on at the Tokyo Motor Show, where it will join its Toyota FT-86/Scion FRS siblings. According to C/D, all three versions of the car will wear similar body panels with the exception of their faces. Subaru will apply its own mug, while the Toyota and Scion versions will be essentially identical with the exception of badging.

Subaru will be responsible for production of all three versions, and the sporty coupe will be built at the Japanese automaker’s Gunma, Japan facility. There the cars will be fitted with 2.0-liter boxer engines and paired with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.

Finally, power will be transferred exclusively to the rear wheels (there won’t be an AWD version for the Subaru) through a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

Trying to find someone who doesn't like his Mini Cooper is a hard thing to do — among the reviews written by Edmunds consumers, at least. Frequent comments include "superb gas mileage," "plenty of power" (regardless of engine), "composed ride," "front seat large enough for a tall person" and "when you drive it, it makes you smile." People also love that they can customize the Mini Cooper any way they want.

The Mini does have its liabilities, of course. The negative comments include a lack of rear seat space, but then consumers seem to be OK with that since they knew what they were getting into. (It's called Mini for a reason, after all.) The base stereo is also considered weak, so opting for the Harman Kardon upgrade is recommended by consumers and our editors alike. Toyota's new small car Liva is all set for launch on June 27, the company said on Thursday.

At a press meet, the Japanese car giant said the much-anticipated Liva will be launched in the hatchback category by the end of this month, spiking a price war. It, however, didn't share how much the car would cost.

Toyota also said it will miss its sales target for 2011 in India by about 10,000 units, on account of production cut that it undertook following the disastrous earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"Earlier we had set a target of 1,50,000 units for this year. But now that has been reduced to 1,40,000 units due to the one month production cut following the tsunami in Japan," Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh told reporters in the national capital.

Speaking at the launch of the new variant of the premium sedan Corolla Altis, he said TKM hopes to sell 60,000 units of its sedan Etios and upcoming small car Liva.

"We are looking to produce 2.1 lakh units in 2012 and will also try to sell all the vehicles," Singh said.

TKM on Thursday launched a new variant of its premium sedan Corolla Altis in both petrol and diesel options in the country, priced between Rs 10.53 lakh and Rs 14.77 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).

"Since the launch of the first Corolla in India in 2003, we have been getting very good response for the car. So far we have sold 70,000 units of the car across the country," TKM Managing Director Hiroshi Nakagawa said.

The company sold 10,400 units of Corolla Altis in 2010, and is expecting to sell 11,500 units this year.

The new Corolla Altis will come with a 1,798 cc engine. The petrol variant is priced at Rs 10.53 lakh to Rs 14.77 lakh, while the diesel option will be available for Rs 11.46 lakh to Rs 14.55 lakh.

On the issue of long waiting periods, Singh said: "When we launched the Etios, we had about six months of waiting period, which has come down to about two months now, after starting the second shift of production in March. By the end of this month, it will come down to less than a month."

Besides, the company has recently increased the output of its multi utility vehicle 'Innova' to 4,800 units per month from about 4,000 units a month earlier, he added.

Currently Innova has a waiting period of about three months, while customers wait for up to two months to take the delivery of the sports utility vehicle Fortuner.

TKM had earlier announced to invest Rs 300 crore to ramp up its production capacity by 60,000 units to 2.1 lakh units annually by mid 2012.

When asked if the company would export Etios, Nakagawa said: "Our focus is India. But we are currently studying the option."

Barring the occasional foray into sport compacts and other interesting projects, Shelby American's primary focus has long centered upon building premium, high-performance muscle machines. That's fine and dandy, but corporate executives believe that in order to ensure the company has customers in the decades to come, it needs to develop a younger customer base.

Like the 2007-2008 Shelby GT Mustang, the new 2012 Shelby GTS essentially an affordable stepping stone into the Shelby way of life. Designed with budding enthusiasts in mind, the package, available on both Mustang V-6 and Mustang GT models, promises to bring in some younger shoppers.

As is the case with other Shelby Mustang models, GTS cars incorporate a number of visual revisions designed to set them apart from a standard Mustang. A custom grille and bumper fascia, cribbed from the company's mid-level GT350 offering, are installed, as is a bespoke ventilated hood. The famed twin racing stripes are standard, as are unique Shelby and Powered By Ford emblems.

Mechanically speaking, GTS models receive new springs, stabilizer bars, and a front strut tower brace from Ford Racing, along with upgraded Baer brakes. The only performance upgrade for either V-6 or V-8 cars is a cold air intake, although customers can opt for a supercharger for either the 3.7- or 5.0-liter engines, boosting power to 475 and 525-624 horsepower, respectively. Other performance options include 6-piston Baer Brakes, adjustable control arms, 18- and 20-inch wheel packages, a two-tone leather interior, and a Watts link rear suspension.

Refrain from dipping into that option list, and the GTS package will run you only $9995 more than a stock 2012 Mustang V-6, or $11,995 over a 2012 Mustang GT.
